Keeping Chicago’s house heritage alive since the mid-90s, Justin Long and Mazi Namvar DJ and co-produce as Wasted Chicago Youth. Aside from that, Justin runs Dotbleep (20:20 Vision’s house imprint), while Mazi co-runs Fresh Meat (part of the Brique Rouge family). Aside from that, their work has surfaced on Robsoul, Cajual, Junior Boy’s Own, Dessous and many others.

Chase the Devil is W.C.Y.’s fourth EP, which finds Justin and Mazi fine-tuning their craft, zooming in on their city’s rich musical history, and adding their own personal details to the house tradition. “Mars or Bust” kicks things off with an onslaught of booms and snaps, effortlessly juxtaposing dirty beats with precise edits. On the flip, we have the fuzzy bounce of “Atomic Supermen”, followed by “Love thy Enemy” with its robust melodic interplay coming in and out of focus. Another fine addition to the TuningSpork catalog, made from 100% free-range, organic, not-from-concentrate funk.
