Falko Brocksieper has started DJ'ing in 1993, mainly fascinated by the raves and European techno of the time. As this soon became inflationary and boring, he was happy to discover artists from Midwest, Detroit and Chicago, like Robert Hood, Woody McBride, Dan Bell and Jeff Mills. In 1997 he moved from his hometown to Cologne and gained further influences by its vibrant minimal techno scene.
Having made his first sequencer experiences on an Amiga 500 as a kid, he decided to focus on music production again in 1999, after activities in design, video art and installation during his studies at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. Falko Brocksieper's first record was released on his label Sub Static in 2001, which was founded by him and MIA just shortly before. Further 12"es followed, on the own label, as well as on Treibstoff, TuningSpork, Resopal, Dumb Unit and Tongut. In 2003 his debut album "Hoax Deluxe" was released, which manifested his style between hypnotic minimalism and buzzing, organic analog techno. Since then Brocksieper is also in heavy demand as a remixer, thus he supplied interpretations for Akufen, Basteroid, Gabriel Ananda, Dirt Crew, Sid LeRock, Dapayk & Padberg, Benjamin Fehr and many more.
In 2003 Mia and him also decided to found a second label, Karloff Recordings, in order to provide an own seperate playground for more experimental and absurd techno approaches. Sub Static and Karloff Rekordings have grown to be renowned brands in the techno scene today, having spawned over 100 releases so far.
In 2004 Falko Brocksieper left his longstanding homebase Cologne, to refuel with new energy and inspiration in Berlin - a new run of much-adored EP's and remixes ensued, and finally in 2008 his long-awaited second album "Heavy Day". Looking for new challenges after 15 years of DJ'ing, Falko has also successfully performed his first live sets within the recent album tour.
